Oh Yeah, I Have a Blog…

What insanity this past year and a half has been. On July 23rd, 2014, Katie and I welcomed our first son, Alec, into the world. He’s incredibly charming, a jokester, and constantly amazes me with his wit beyond his years (or months). He’ll be outsmarting me by his teens, I’m sure. Fatherhood changed me in ways I expected, he’s the center of my universe now.

Only a few short months later Katie and I finally realized a long term goal (of mostly mine), and became home owners. We couldn’t be happier with our new home and neighborhood. We both count our blessings every day that we both have wonderful jobs with long term aspirations, and know that we are in the lucky minority.

A month ago we found out that Katie was pregnant again with a baby girl. Exactly what we wanted, about a year early. Oops! We are both very optimistic, my brother and I are 18 months apart and I wouldn’t have it any other way. So full speed ahead with Button clan! Our little family is turning into a full size one!

Earlier this year I accepted a promotion to Creative Director at Webfor. Being with this company since before it had an office to walking in our trendy downtown Vancouver agency has been a thrill ride. The company just has this knack for hiring amazing, talented individuals which all have lifted me up over the last few years. I really believe that’s where career take off, by surrounding yourself with just quality individuals who understand what life is about and what hard work and determination can accomplish. My responsibilities are going to oddly enough transform to what I had been doing years earlier as Operations Manager at Quantum Signs, basically creative direction, account management, and more communication with clients: all things I love. I think it’s the perfect path for an extroverted designer.

So in short, I guess, life is great. Fatherhood and my work have taken a large bite out of my video gaming career. You know what? It’s worth it. The free time I have now is more often spent with my family and I am a better man for it.

Maybe I wont wait a year and a half between posts… ha!
